Bonds
Soleil and Brennan had the kind of bond besties do. And that made me question everything about photography.
It made me think more deeply about why I take photos. That it isn’t about making people look good but translating the invisible bonds between them into something tangible. That it’s not about the photos themselves but the people and bigger ideas about life that it captures. I took photos for a long time wondering if whether I made people look good was what mattered most. I limited myself by thinking that I ought to captured the idea of a “couple” or “marriage”, when I only needed to capture the people themselves. Whether adventuring in the outdoors or celebrating close to home, I’ve realized illuminating these bonds are what I really want to do.
